Del Valle Little League

Team Level Positions

Volunteering for these positions will help our teams run smoother and give them the tools they need to have a great season. These positions take 4-6 hours a week and allow you to make a significant contribution to the league and the direction it takes. Each team should have a parent meeting, if there aren’t enough forthcoming volunteers, and “assign” volunteers to each position.

Team Coach – This position is the head coach of a specific team within Del Valle Little League. The coach essentially runs the baseball (or softball) side of the team. The coach is responsible for planning and running team practices, making out game-day lineups, and managing the team during games. This position is not as intimidating as it may seem, especially at the T-Ball and Minor levels! You always have at least a couple of assistant coaches who are there to help you out and cover for you when you need to miss a practice or game due to other commitments.

Team Assistant Coach – This position is an assistant to the Team Coach and helps with all baseball (or softball) aspects of the team. They are vital parts of any team, and are often called upon to help run practices and games when the Team Coach is not available. In Minor and above divisions only 2 official coaches are allowed on the field of play, but that doesn’t stop additional “coaches” from helping out during practices.

Team Parent -  The Team Parent is the coaches right-hand man or woman, and is a vital component of the team. Whereas the coach typically runs the baseball (or softball) part of the team, the Team Parent runs the administrative side. The Team Parent is responsible for organizing snack schedules, coordinating the team’s contribution to the snack bar, planning mid-season and end-of-the-year parties, and helping the coach contact parents when practices or games are cancelled. The team parent, working with the League’s Team Parent Coordinator, also helps ensure that their team’s volunteer requirements are met.

Team Scorekeeper – Scorekeepers are an important part of each game we play during the season. This is a fun activity and keeps you occupied during the game. Furthermore, you are helping the coaches and the league measure how we are doing developing our players.
