Opening Spring Season 2025 Begins
**Canceled!!!**Mandatory Parent and Coach Meeting

**Canceled!!!**Meeting Feb. 22, 2025 @10am @ SE Metro Park Concessions stand
ATTENTION!!! IMPORTANT INFO
Spring 2025 Season 2/25/25-5/3/25 Our practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-8:00pm at SE Metro Fields.
Children need to wear comfortable clothes they can run and be active in. No flip flops, crocs, or sandals allowed at any game or practice. Coaches will let you know what they will require your children to wear to practice after you meet on 2/22/25 @ the Parent Meeting
Groupme: Groupme is a free app the coaches and team moms will use to help you stay in the know. Coaches will be getting with you after the meeting on 2/22/25 to have you download the app. Make sure your notifications are on, and once added you Must reply in your group so the app doesn't kick you out for inactivity. Children are never penalized for missing practices or leaving early. We do ask that you let your coach know via Groupme the following things: 1. Will you be at practice 2. If you're running late 3. If you need to leave early from practice This way our coaches know how many kids to plan for and how many to expect. We also ask that you DO NOT leave your children at practice and leave the complex. Our coaches are not babysitters. They are there to help your child learn and grow their skills in baseball or softball. They should not have to stay later to keep up with your child if you leave.Things happen and you need to be accessible should we need you. In the past severe weather has hit and some kids were dropped off and parents weren't there for the kids. Or kids have gotten hit by a ball/bat and parents are nowhere to be found. You will also NEED to be there to escort your child to the restroom should they need to go. No Children (regardless of age) should go to the restroom unattended. This is a public park and sometimes there are people in the restrooms that are not a part of our DVLL family. For the safety of our kids, they need to have an adult in the restroom present at all times. This also eliminates kids playing in the restrooms and doing things they shouldn't.
Games: Our game schedule won't likely be out until after Spring Break. As soon as we get the schedule we pass it down to coaches who will give it to you parents. Please be patient as the game schedule is put together. We must wait for all other leagues to finish up registration to see what teams we have to play against.
Jerseys: It is VERY important that you look at our mock jerseys and try them on your child on Sat 2/22/25. We need to make sure we have the correct size on the roster so that when orders are placed we have the correct info. Little League International doesn't want last names on the jerseys due to safety concerns, so ONLY a number will be on the back. Numbers are first come first serve.
Equipment: Please make sure your child has the following equipment at every practice and game. We DO NOT encourage sharing equipment due to sanitary reasons. You are responsible for making sure your child has all of their equipment when they leave. We Highly recommend writing your child's name or putting a label with your child's name on their equipment. For the helmet it needs to be on the INSIDE. We are NOT allowed any custom helmets with customized paint or stickers etc. ALL BATS need to be correctly fitted for the child and the division they are in. For ex. a Coach Pitch player can not use a tball bat. Baseball uses baseball bats and softball uses softball bats. ALL BATS must have the USA Bats sticker on them.
Equipment needed: Helmet Bat Glove A bag with a hook to put their belongings in Plastic Bottom Cleats Water Softball needs a facemask Your coach will let you know after the first week of practice what color pants, belt, and socks your child will need.
Playscape: At 6:30 no children playing for DVLL should be on the playscape. They should all be on their field. Insurance does not cover a child who gets hurt on the playscape. We will direct your child to the appropriate field if needed. Also, if you have young children who will be playing on the playscape YOU MUST STAY WITH THEM. We have had some very close calls where children have run to the parking lot who were playing on the playscape and mom and dad had no idea. We have also had younger kids hitting and hurting other children who were playing on the playscape and no parents were there to intervene. If your child is found without a parent present and we have to take your child to you, you may be asked to refrain from letting the child go to the playscape.
Rain out and bad weather: We rent the fields and lights and concessions from Travis County Parks. If we want lines on the fields we have to line them or pay a hefty fee per field. If we want lights we have to pay for those as well. If we have rain or bad weather, Travis County Parks Staff make the call on if fields are playable or not. If some fields are deemed not playable we may have to share fields with other teams. IF we are rained out you will be made aware via groupme, fb, and via email. There may be times it rains in other areas of Austin, but not here. The parks staff goes off field conditions here. Please do not message on groupme asking about practices or games if you are concerned about rain. As soon as we hear from the parks staff we will let coaches know who will in turn let you know. Repeatedly asking only bogs down the news feed on groupme.
Trash Pick Up: Please remember to help your children remember to keep our park clean and beautiful. All trash needs to be placed in trash cans located throughout the park. If trash being left behind becomes a problem, then we will not be opening concessions. Please do your part.
Concessions: Concessions will be opened starting Concessions will close @7:45 each night so make sure you have gotten what you need by that time. Going forward all payments must be made by either cash or debit/credit card or Venmo. No cash app will be accepted due to them implementing extra fees.
Volunteering: All parents from each team will be expected to volunteer in concessions throughout the season. This doesn't mean you have to handle money or even interact with customers. It could be as simple as restocking chips or filling the fridge. Your team moms will be getting with you to create a volunteer schedule. If you are unable to commit to your assigned time, it is your responsibility to switch with another parent on your team. Concessions can not happen if we don't have volunteers. We need volunteers for coaching, assistant coaching, and team moms. Please get with us at concessions to fill out a form. For those that do help volunteer at least 30 minutes in concessions, your name will be put into a gift card drawing. This will come in handy as it will be given to the winner right before summer break.
Safety: Safety is our number one concern. Every person who interacts with a child will have had a background check and passed. Just because you may have filled out a volunteer form does not mean you can be on the field. The form has to be processed first and your coach has to approve of you being on the field or in the dugout. If you have filled out a volunteer form and have not heard back from me, Laura, then you passed. Please get with your coach and see how he/she can use you. PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FIELDS OR IN THE DUGOUTS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE COACH AND WITHOUT HAVING COMPLETED THE VOLUNTEER FORM AND IT MUST BE PROCESSED. We understand, especially with tball, kids want their parents nearby, but we can not have all parents on the field. We have coaches who have stepped up and volunteered so please allow them to do what they've signed up to do. Siblings are not allowed in the dugouts either. Once the dugout chain goes up no one should take it off except for a coach or team mom.
Code of Conduct: Please remember that all of our coaches, team moms, board members, umpires etc are volunteers. You all signed a code of conduct when you registered your child. Please remember to conduct yourself as an adult and show good sportsmanship and be a good example in front of the children. There should never be cursing, name calling, poking fun, threats, taunting etc. This goes for adults and children. If you notice something please go to concessions and get someone to address the situation Immediately.
Sponsorships: DVLL is a nonprofit and we rely on sponsorships from area businesses to help cover the high costs of renting the fields, lights, and concessions. This also covers buying new equipment, our charter, insurance, storage rental fees, food and equipment for concessions, trophies and medals, items needed for special events etc. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor please come to concessions to get a form. It shows the different levels. This is also great advertising for your business as well as a tax write off!
We are looking forward to a fun season and we are so glad you've chosen to be a part of it! We appreciate all your help. It truly takes a village to make this work! If you have any questions or concerns please come to concessions and find a board member to assist you.
Del Valle Little League is dedicated to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for kids of all ages to enjoy the all American past-time of baseball!
